Abstract
Rapid phone-based assessment of pandemic impacts on refugee and host community farmers' incomes and food security in real-time.
The Challenge:
During COVID-19 lockdowns, IFPRI urgently needed to assess pandemic impacts on refugee and host community farmers’ incomes and food security in real-time.
The Solution:
HDS rapidly pivoted to remote data collection methodologies, training enumerators in phone-based interview techniques while maintaining strict data protection protocols. Our team achieved exceptional respondent tracking despite movement restrictions and conducted high-frequency check-ins to monitor evolving livelihood impacts.
Key Outcomes
Achieved 4% attrition rate over two years (industry-leading retention), delivering timely evidence that shaped UNHCR and WFP emergency response programming worth USD $187,365 in humanitarian assistance.
